Teaching Objectives:

   Language objectives:

1.      To get students to know some more facts about water.

2.      To help students consolidate the three important sentence patterns about water in this unit. “…use water to do…”, “If there is no water, …”, “We can save water by (not) doing …”.

3.      To help them finish writing an article about water.

   Ability focus:

1.      To develop the students’ writing skills by guiding them how to organize an article step by step.

2.      To enhance the students’ cooperative spirit by group discussion and peer correction.

Emotional objectives:

To help students realize the importance of water and raise their awareness of saving water. Meanwhile, ease their pain of writing to some extent.

Key points and difficult points:

Key points: To further consolidate the three important sentence patterns about water in this unit.

Difficult  points: To write an article about water.

Have the students listen to some beautiful sounds of water.

 

Listen and tell what they’ve heard.

 

To arouse the students’ interest and elicit the topic ‘Water’.

Pre-task Preparation

 

 

 

 

1.      Have a small quiz about water.

 

 

2.      Have a brief introduction of the common water program with our sister school.

Think and guess the meanings of these numbers and keep them in mind.

 

Have a further  understanding of the aim of this class.

To get students to know some more facts about water.

 

To inspire them to engage in this writing class.

While-task Procedure

1.      Ask students to brainstorm some more questions about water.

 

 

2.      Elicit the first question “What do we use water to do?” and help them to consolidate this part by having them play an “Act &Guess” game and do more practice in pairs.

  

3.      Elicit the second question “What will happen if there is no water?” and help them to consolidate this part by playing a Bingo game —“Finding the missing picture.

 

4.      Elicit the third question “How can we save water?” and help them to consolidate this part by doing “Ask & Answer” according to the given pictures.

Think actively and try to raise the questions, the more the better.

 

 

Take part in the game actively and practice the sentence pattern in groups.

 

 

 

 

 

Keep all the pictures in mind and try to express the missing picture.

 

 

 

 

 

Practise in pairs according to the given pictures.

To provoke their thoughts and make a preparation for the next stage.

 

To have a revision of  the uses of water and consolidate the sentence pattern : “…use water to do…”

 

 

To have a revision of the importance of water and consolidate the sentence pattern : “If there is no water, …”

 

 

To have a revision of the ways of saving water and consolidate the sentence pattern : “We can save water by (not) doing …”

 

Post-task activity

1. Ask the students to write an article about water by providing them with some good expressions for reference.

 

2. Ask students to correct the articles with each other and choose the best one in their group to share in class.

Think carefully and try to write the article in terms of the questions which have been just discussed in class.

 

Correct the partner’s article carefully with the correction codes.

To develop the students’ writing skills and enhance the students’ cooperative spirit by peer correction.

 

Assignment

1.  Revise(修改) your compositions.

2.      Email your compositions to me and some of yours can be chosen to put in our Wiki Space to share with our sister school. 

 

一份耕耘、一份收获

          ―――6校联动water 写作课课后反思

这堂课是对于水的一篇写作课。句型也比较简单,所以学生的写作过程还是比较愉悦轻松的。但是作为老师来说,还是不轻松的,因为学生的基础相对薄弱,所以在针对一个方面进行小组讨论的时候, 生生之间可供彼此交流的素材实在有限,这时候就需要老师的辅助, 来帮他们进一步地拓展思路,最后在老师和学生的共同努力下,比较顺利地完成的写作任务。所以我觉得对于我们这些薄弱学校的老师来说, 课前必须要有详尽的预设,这样才能坐怀不乱。

不得不承认,备课是一个痛苦的过程但同时却也是一个自我成长的过程,它使我无论在课堂教学还是课程改革上都有了新的探索与认识。没有压力就没有动力,然而让我体会更深的还是一份耕耘一份收获的道理。

在本堂课中我做了很多新的尝试与探索,也许结果不是最佳的,但我觉得过程对于我来说才是最重要的,因为从中我收获了很多,懂得了很多,对以后的教学方向也有了更清晰更明确的认识,相信自己下次会做得更好。
